Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Backd ("Backd," "we," "us") builds personalized glute-training plans. We care deeply about privacy — it's a core part of the product. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us at privacy@getbackd.app.
1. Information we collect
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you provide.
- Your training inputs. In the app, the choices you make — your goal, weekly schedule, and available equipment — and the workouts you log.
- Your optional photo. If you choose to add one, a photo used solely to assess your current visible muscle development (see §2). It is always optional.
- Basic technical data. Standard request information such as your IP address, used only to operate and secure the service (for example, rate-limiting abuse). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
2. Your photo
The photo is the most sensitive thing Backd handles, so we treat it carefully:
- Optional. You can skip it entirely; the app still builds a real plan from your three taps.
- Encrypted in transit. If you add a photo, it is sent over an encrypted connection.
- Processed, then discarded. The image is analyzed to estimate visible muscle development across glute regions, and that assessment is used to shape your plan. We do not retain your photo on our servers after the assessment — we keep only the numerical assessment needed to build your plan.
- Analyzed by a trusted AI provider. The analysis runs through a third-party AI service (Anthropic). Under its commercial API terms, your photo is not used to train AI models.
- Never sold, never used to train models, deletable. We never sell your photo, never use it to train models, and you can remove it from the app at any time.
- Honesty. Backd assesses visible muscle development and trains muscle. It does not assess or change bone structure, and never claims to.
3. How your data is stored
- On your device. Your plan and workout logs are stored locally on your device — no account is required to use Backd.
- Waitlist. Waitlist emails are stored with our email provider so we can notify you when access opens.
4. Service providers we use
We use a small set of providers, each processing data only to deliver their part of the service:
- Cloudflare — website and app hosting, security.
- Resend — waitlist and launch emails.
- Anthropic — the AI photo assessment and coaching text.
- Supabase — backend functions that run the assessment.
5. How we use your information
- To build and personalize your training plan.
- To email you waitlist and launch updates (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
6. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above (to run Backd), or where required by law.
7. Your choices and rights
- Photo: add it or skip it, and remove it from the app at any time.
- Email: unsubscribe from any message, or ask us to delete your waitlist email.
- Device data: clearing the app's data removes your plan and logs from your device.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your information. Email privacy@getbackd.app to exercise them.
8. Data retention
Photos are not retained after assessment. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Data stored on your device stays there until you remove it.
9. Children
Backd is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
